Samantha Hatcher is a PhD student in Dr. Mitch Roitman’s lab, focusing on how the mesolimbic system regulates motivated behaviors. Her experiences as both an analyst for drug development and a biomedical device engineer have given her a well-rounded scientific background. She is interested in uncovering the role of neurotransmitters and endogenous opioids in driving motivational salience within models of drug addiction, with the aim of exploring if these states are reversible.
